FOR SESSION #3 
What About Missions?

OBJECTIVES OF THIS SESSION
  • To help participants evaluate their concept of Christian missions.
  • To help them understand what we mean by Christian World Missions.
  • To explain the difference between missions and evangelism.
INTRODUCTION

Many people picture a missionary wearing a pith helmet and preaching to natives who don’t understand him. Others imagine someone who tries to change the natives to look and act just like he does. Today we want to clarify some of those images.

PRAYER
  • Open in prayer and ask the Lord to reveal to each one what he has for them. 
REPORT BACK (Optional)
  • If you assigned a volunteer at the end of the previous session to give a report on what he or she discovered in the Dig Deeper section, call on that person now.
WORKSHEETS
  • Distribute the printable Worksheet #3 to those who don't have copies of Workbook
  • Note: All Worksheets are available on Dropbox. It's quick, easy, and free but you need to register or sign in.
DISCUSSION
  • What comes to mind when you hear the word missions? 
  • Is the concept of missions good? Bad? Scary? Right? Wrong?
  • Can a person stay home and still be a missionary? 
  • What is the difference between:
    • Culture Shock and Reverse Culture Shock. Answer.
    • An Evangelist and a Missionary. Answer
SCRIPTURE
  • Read the Scripture Passages in the Workbook or Worksheet.
  • What do the verses tell you about missions?

  • Share what you have learned, and what they want to do with it.
